Joselu scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute with a header off a cross by Fran Garcia, who also assisted Valverde’s goal. Valverde had equalized for Madrid less than a minute earlier with a one-timer from outside the box.
This season, Madrid had to come from behind three times in order to win. In wins over Almeria and Getafe, it had also fallen behind early.
Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, said, “The good thing is that we have been able to overcome these early goals, but we have to analyze it and work to try to keep from happening.”
Despite drawing its first three games, Sociedad had just defeated Granada.
After 15 players missed the initial flight, according to the club, Las Palmas had to travel from the Canary Islands on two different aircraft.
For promoted Las Palmas, who is still winless and in the relegation zone, it was their third defeat in five games.
